Show History
The first Bourke Show was held in December 1874 under the Bourke and Brewarrina Pastoral and Agricultural Associations, with shows alternating between the two towns. Despite a fire at Tattersall’s Hotel on the eve of the event, the show was considered a success, with only minor inconvenience reported. Early accounts noted the strong competition, including missed entries such as a pair of buggy horses arriving too late to compete. The Bourke association went on to stage regular shows, renowned for their Merino sheep and wool exhibits, reflecting the district’s pastoral strength.
