Show History
The Camden Show Society was formed on September 12, 1885. The first Committee was elected in a novel way; each of the 184 foundation members were nominated for the 25 vacancies. Strangely, those elected came from a wide distribution within the district. The main feature of the shows has been dairy cattle, particularly Ayrshires, this district being virtually the home of the breed in NSW. All shows since the first in 1886 have been held on the same ground-a gift of Mrs Onslow, grand-daughter of John Macarthur.
