Show History
The Gosford Agricultural and Horticultural Association (now the Gosford District Agricultural and Citrus Association) held its first show in 1888. It was staged in an enclosure, fenced with hessian screens, at the northern corner of Mann and Donnison Streets, Gosford. Secretary for the first show was the Rev. John King Brown, Anglican Rector of Gosford, with Harry Cox, of Woy Woy, as president. Shortly after the second annual show, land was secured for a showground on the north-western side of President's Hill (between the old State Forest Nursery and the Gosford Racecourse). Horse races were later held on this ground. The association in addition to conducting the annual agricultural show, is also engaged in conducting horse-racing, greyhound racing and trotting.
