Coonabarabran Show

The Coonabarabran Pastoral & Agricultural Association was formed at a public meeting on November 17, 1880, with Sir P.A. Jennings, M.P. as patron and C. Fetherstonhaugh as president. The first show was held on March 24, 1881, on a piece of ground where the Roman Catholic Church now stands. Two interesting classes at the first show were for a waggon and eight horses and a waggon and 10 bullocks. The present showground was acquired in 1929. A most successful field wheat competition was started in 1921. The association is now known as the Coonabarabran Pastoral, Agricultural, Industrial and Horticultural Association.
