Coonamble Show

The Coonamble Pastoral and Agricultural Association dates from 1879, with its first show held in 1883 under chairman D.D. McMahon and secretary “Barney” Streglin. A permanent showground was dedicated in 1889, with the first show held there the following year. The site has since remained central to the district’s events and community activities. Over time, the association has reflected both tradition and progress, notably breaking new ground in 1970 by electing a woman as president—an early milestone for country show societies.
