Gulgong Show

The Gulgong Pastoral, Agricultural and Horticultural Association has had its ups and downs since a bush ploughing competition in 1882 led to the first agricultural show six years later. In 1884, the association was granted 15 acres for a showground but lacked funds for fencing or improvements. Despite only two farmers attending a meeting in January 1888 to seek government assistance, a highly successful first show was staged in March, attracting 300 entries across horse, cattle, wheat, dairy produce and other sections.
