Kempsey Show

A meeting at the Kempsey School of Arts on June 7, 1881, led to the formation of the Macleay Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Association, with 47 original subscribers and Frederick Goulburn Panton, JP, as first president. The first show was held in September 1881 on a site near the Good Templars’ Hall, with exhibits housed inside the hall. In 1886, the Government granted 18 acres for a permanent showground on its present site. In 1937, the society was renamed the Central North Coast National Agricultural Society. Kempsey.
