Leeton Show

The Leeton Agricultural Society began in 1914 as the Yanco Horticultural and Agricultural Society, with its first show held in March 1915. In the early years, shows and race meetings shared the local racecourse, with fences constantly altered to suit each event. Livestock pens were simple bush shelters, re-roofed annually with palm leaves and straw by volunteers. In 1919, the society secured its own grounds, clearing and grading the land and erecting a strong ring fence. Over time, substantial buildings have been added. Notably, the Industrial Hall, once used by the RAAF Training School at Narrandera during World War II, was purchased in 1947, dismantled and re-erected at Leeton.
