Show History
The first show of the Picton Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Society was conducted in 1880 on what was known as Hume Oval, with indoor exhibits displayed in a tent. From 1882-84 alternate shows were held at Picton and Camden, on the other side of Razorback Mountain. Camden formed its own society in 1885. Various district shows were held over the next 50 years. Picton tried to form a new society in 1907, while Bargo held shows after the completion of the Avon and Nepean dams. The present Picton society was formed in 1935, its 50th show scheduled for 1985. The show features dairy cattle, horses and pavilion exhibits. Woodchopping returned in 1983 after a lapse of 10 years.
