Show History
The first Rydal Show was held in April 1921 by the local Agricultural Bureau. Its success led to the formation of the Rydal Agricultural, Horticultural and Pastoral Association later that year to oversee future events. The initial show took place on the recreation reserve, with adjoining land later acquired to expand the grounds to 40 acres. A memorable highlight recalled by long-time showgoers was A. McAllister’s 1938 display celebrating Australia’s 150th anniversary. It featured a map of Australia crafted from fruit and farm produce, with “150” formed in plums and the ship Sirius depicted in vegetables. The intricate exhibit included 47 varieties of produce arranged on a bed of chaff.
