Show History
The Rylstone-Kandos Show Society held its first show in 1937 at Rylstone, driven by the enthusiasm of founding president J.C. Blackmore. Though modest at first, it has grown steadily. Set on one of the State’s most picturesque grounds, bordered by river and poplars with a natural amphitheatre, the show has been held there annually, except during 1942–43. The ring program, especially horse events, has long been a highlight, alongside sheepdog trials and bullock riding. Sheep and wool exhibits were strong, with more than 100 fleeces displayed. Fat lambs were introduced in 1939, cattle in the 1960s, and later goats, coloured sheep, poultry and a dog show. Pavilion sections included —farm produce, horticulture, handwork, cakes, art and photography.
