Wallamba Show (Nabiac)

The first show of the Wallamba District Agricultural and Horticultural Association was held at Nabiac in April 1912. Its formation followed a determined ride through the district by George Easton, Tom Paterson and Jim McPherson, who secured strong local support in cash, livestock and produce. A vivid memory from that first show comes from Ethel McPherson (later Mrs McFadyen), who competed in the side-saddle event. She recalled a fierce thunderstorm interrupting judging, sending riders to shelter in the judge’s tent before drying their boots by a stove in time for the evening dance.
