Warialda Show

The Warialda Pastoral and Agricultural Association held its first meeting on April 17, 1889, and staged its first show in 1890, following earlier events under the Gwydir association. Over the years, shows were interrupted by droughts—notably in 1902–03, 1912 and the early 1920s—and by wars, including the Boer War and both World Wars. Early shows were held on land now used as the racecourse, before the present showground was developed in 1933. Warialda’s show was well known for its hospitality and the high standard of its jumping events, attracting competitors from across a wide region.
