Show History
The first agricultural show in the Hastings district was held at Port Macquarie in 1884, but after that society disbanded in 1914, interest continued through the Wauchope Show Society, formed earlier in 1910. The first Wauchope Show was staged on land bought for just five shillings, with J. Rowsell as president. Junior Farmers joined in 1929, and the region’s first pony club north of Newcastle began in 1956. A notable curiosity was a one-off Ladies Woodchop event in 1912.
