West Wyalong Show

The West Wyalong and District Pastoral, Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Association was formed on May 9, 1900, with Samuel Wilson as first president, later honoured by the showground’s memorial entrance gates. The first show, held in October 1900 on the recreation reserve, faced challenges from a transient goldfields population and a small rural base. By 1906, however, the association secured a permanent site, developing it into one of the State’s largest and best-equipped country showgrounds. Beyond annual exhibitions, the association has played an active role in promoting agriculture through field wheat and pasture management competitions.
