Show History
Wyong’s first agricultural show was held at the School of Arts on March 2–3, 1906. From 1907 to 1923, shows moved to what became Baker Park, originally established as Warner Sports Ground by Albert Hamlyn Warner. In 1913, George Goldsmith developed the present racecourse on reclaimed swamp land, using sawdust from his mill to form the track. After his death, it became Wyong Park Racecourse and was acquired by the Wyong Agricultural Association in 1923, remaining the showground ever since. A trotting ring was built inside the main course and, for many years, the venue doubled as the town’s primary sports ground. After World War II, sporting use shifted elsewhere, leaving the showground focused on its agricultural and exhibition role.
