Young Show

The Young Pastoral and Agricultural Association was formed in October 1870 as the Burrangong P. and A. Association and the first show was held in April 1871. The show was held on various locations until 1893 when the Lands Department offered an area of Garibaldi Park. This has been the Young Showground ever since and many improvements have taken place over the years. The association formed a trotting club and introduced night trotting at Young in February, 1954. The Young association has been supported by record long service by some of its officials. John Forsythe served as president for 33 years. Tom Tester was secretary for 40 years and was the man who triggered the formation of the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW.
